In a day when the nations are turning their backs on Israel once again. River of Life Church affirms its strong support for the nation of Israel.
River of Life church supports Israel as a biblical entity created by God. Our support for Israel is unwavering. Our position is non-partisan, non-political, non-governmental and non-denominational.
Each year in October, River of Life holds a “A Night to Support Israel.” On this night we affirm what God has stated in His word about the nation of Israel. We stand in solidarity for the nation of Israel.
In Genesis 12, we read about the formation of the land of Israel. Genesis 12:1-3, “Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family and from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2) I will make you a great nation; I will bless you, And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3) I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Biblical reasons to stand with Israel.
1. The Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:3)
The Promise of Blessing: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you”. Everlasting Land Grants: Genesis 15 detail an unconditional, eternal covenant assigning the land of Canaan to Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob.
2. God’s Everlasting Love and Character (Jeremiah 31:3)
Unchanging Commitment: God declares, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have drawn you with lovingkindness,” emphasizing that His promises to Israel do not expire or change based on human failing.
Irrevocable Gifts: Romans 11:29, “God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable,” affirming that God has not rejected His people.
3. The Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith (Romans 11 & 15)
The Olive Tree: Romans 11:17–21 describes Gentile believers as a wild olive tree grafted into the rich root system of Israel, noting that “you do not support the root, but the root supports you”
Spiritual Debt: Romans 15:27, Gentiles share in Israel’s spiritual blessings and therefore owe a spiritual debt to the Jewish people, through whom came the Scriptures, the prophets, and the Messiah.
4. The Lineage and Return of Jesus
Jewish Identity of Jesus: Jesus was born a Jew, lived and ministered in the land of Israel as a Jew, and is identified in Revelation 22:16 as the “Root and the Offspring of David.” Prophetic Expectations: Jerusalem is tied to biblical prophecies regarding the return of Christ. (Zechariah 8, Ezekiel 37).
5. Calls to Comfort and Pray for Jerusalem.
Explicit Command: Isaiah 40:1, “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God,” This is our mandate to care for and stand beside the Jewish people.
Prayer for Peace: Psalm 122:6, commands believers to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure'”.
